How To Make The Perfect* Charcuterie Board
Creating a charcuterie board is a fun and beautiful way to serve a variety of delicious bites. Let’s craft a perfect* one, complete with roasted almonds from Cock’s Nuts!
* “perfect” = anyway you make it! Especially when made with love.
1. Choose Your Ingredients:
Meats: Select a variety of cured meats such as prosciutto, salami, or chorizo. Aim for 2 to 3 slices (approximately 2 to 3 ounces) per person.
Cheeses: Include a mix of cheeses like brie, cheddar, hot pepper (my favorite) and gouda. Plan for about 3 ounces of cheese per person (1 1/2 to 1 3/4 pounds for 8-10 people).
Extras: Be generous with extras! Add olives, pickles, dried fruits, and fresh fruits like grapes or figs. Don’t forget the roasted almonds!
Bread and Crackers: Provide a variety of bread and crackers for pairing with meats and cheeses.
2. Assemble Your Board:
Base Layer: Lay down your meats first. Arrange them in different areas on the board.
Cheese Placement: Position the cheeses next to the meats. Slice them a little thicker than usual for a satisfying bite.
Fill in the Gaps: Use fruits (both dried and fresh), vegetables, and nuts to fill any empty spaces. The more, the merrier!
Condiments and Spreads: Add small dishes for dips, olives, or pickles. Complement with honey, jams, or mustards.
Bread and Crackers: Finish by placing crackers, bread, or other sides to complete the board.
3. Gather and Share!
Remember, a charcuterie board is all about creativity, personal taste….and most of all having fun putting it all together.
